Snow Jam in the ATL.
NO Class on Wednesday January 29th....so in the meantime this is what you should be working on in preparation for your "chosen" client for the semester.
1. Creative Brief:
Go ahead and write up a Creative Brief. The brief should have your logo/name on it along with the name of your client and your plan of action (this is a work in progress and will change as you move through the semester) but go ahead and give your plan of action about what you want to try and do. Might include the current look or logo of your client (for posterity.)
You might want to include possible clients who would be a competitor in the area of your chosen client.
It should be no longer than one page. A few paragraphs is fine.
2. Mood Board/Images:
This is for Research purposes and your Vision of your client. You can include this in your Creative Brief if you wish or you can put the images on your blogs for the class and you can add to them as you go. Color/Text/inspiration for your creative direction. Images and other designs you like and might like to try with your client.
Work in progress of course.
3. Buzz Words:
A series of words that you want your client to become or aspire to in the days ahead as you design. This should be a work in progress and you should add to the list as you discover them. (Contemporary/Hippie Chic/Unisexual/Urban/Political/Spiritual, etc.)
4. Sketches/Digital concepts
Start working up ideas for your new and improved logos. This means trying various fonts/typefaces and discovering new ways to create your clients new logo. This can also
include imagery that you are developing. I expect a lot of concepts and ideas as you go...from freeform to structured and the abstract to the literal. Stretch yourself in this exercise. Too much depends on you uncovering the exact logo that you will need to follow you through the rest of the semester and into the program. Much of the work you create now will be around until you graduate. This is important. This is important.
5. Put 5 of your design pieces from GrD3000 and GrD3150 on your blog.
6. Put up 5 of your favorite logos and 5 of your most hated logos. Be prepared to talk about them in class.
